Tory Pensions Fear

PENSIONERS in Worthing West are concerned what the future of their pensions will look like with Tory changes to national insurance.

Rishi Sunak’s £46 billion unfunded tax plan is a real and present threat to the economy, people’s pensions and the NHS.

Concerns are being raised with the Tory plans about how people will accrue their rights to the basic state pension given this currently happens through National Insurance Contributions.

If the Conservatives bring in a merger with Income Tax, there are questions about the rate of income tax and how much of a tax rise that would be for pensioners.

Dr Beccy Cooper, Labour’s Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Worthing West, visited Marine Gardens Bowling Club on Tuesday 30th April to speak with bowlers about their concerns for the future of their pensions.

Dr Cooper said:

“Worthing residents are asking questions about what these proposed changes will mean for them as they head towards their retirement and pensions.

“Those approaching pension age should feel secure that they will be looked after and their pensions are secured.

Pensioners I spoke to, also want to see an NHS that is fit for purpose, properly funded and that it will be there for them when they and their families need it most.”
